JASMINE Garner may not get the recognition from the wider public, but she definitely has the respect of her peers.
The newly appointed North Melbourne vice-captain has been nominated as the best forward in the competition in womens.afl's survey of 14 players – one from every club – to find out who they regard as the best of the best.
With 50 per cent of the vote, Garner was comfortably ahead of the 2019 AFLW leading goalkicker Stevie-Lee Thompson, with Darcy Vescio, Jess Wuetschner and the versatile Erin Phillips also receiving nods.
Garner, 25, is coming into her own as a top-line player of the competition, named All Australian in 2019 and also in the VFLW's team of the year.
FULL FIXTURE Every round, every game
Already blessed with very strong hands overhead, she has worked hard on her fitness since making her debut with Collingwood in 2017, crossing to North for the 2019 season.
It is now one of Garner's biggest strengths, capable of making long searching leads up the ground before beating her opponent back to goal.
