Lions coach admitted to hospital, will miss inaugural QClash

BRISBANE AFLW coach Craig Starcevich will miss the club's inaugural QClash with Gold Coast at Metricon Stadium after being admitted to hospital.

Starcevich has undergone a series of tests after falling ill on Friday morning, with the results still to be confirmed.

Lions forwards coach Daniel Merrett will be the acting head coach for the match against the Suns in Starcevich's absence.

Lions women's chief executive Breeanna Brock said Starcevich was in good spirits.

"We are sad Craig is missing out on the game as we know how excited he was for the first QClash, but his health is always our main priority," Brock said.

The first bounce between the Lions and Suns is at 4.10pm AEST.
