Crows forced to train at home as SA lockdown hits pre-season training

ADELAIDE'S AFLW side has been forced into home training due to South Australia's new COVID-19 restrictions.

The state has effectively been shut down until Tuesday to try to get on top of a breakout.

Crows players have been given tailored workouts to complete at home, with some players able to collect equipment from the club before the shutdown.

Other clubs have been able to continue training, albeit all must comply with Victorian COVID-safe standards, with whole-group, non-contact training only allowed on a limited basis.

Adelaide head of footy Adam Kelly said players would miss four sessions over the six days, and that the club was at a "temporary disadvantage".

"We want to get through this initial period, and we are all hopeful that beyond that we can return to training, but we'll have to wait for government advice," Kelly told Adelaide's website.

"If it means that we couldn't return to training after this six-day period, we would be seeking some consideration from the AFL as to how the balance of the preseason will roll out and what impact it will have on our teams' preparation for the AFLW season.

"We'd be extremely concerned about the disadvantage that we'd be under given there is a very short preparatory phase before we have to get into the season proper.

"We've spoken to the AFL and they, along with us, will wait and see how everything plays out beyond this initial six-day period.

"Some players have got reasonable set ups at their own homes, but the programs will be designed around minimal equipment being required and trying to maintain the strength and conditioning that has been built up in the initial parts of the pre-season."
