Draft dreams not over: The two clubs with open list spots

TWO players will have their NAB AFLW Draft dreams come true, albeit somewhat belatedly, when the undrafted free agency period opens on Thursday.

Clubs with room on their lists – St Kilda and Carlton – now have the opportunity to sign a player from a state other than Victoria, following the clubs' decisions to pass on their final picks.

Traditionally, South Australia has been a strong source of post-draft talent, given the quickly growing health of women's football in the state and the limited number of spots available on Adelaide's list.

St Kilda has been linked to 29-year-old ruck Leah Cutting, who represents Norwood in the SANFLW.

Cutting was invited to South Australia's NAB AFLW Draft Combine, recording a 2km time trial of 7.56min to win the state's run and finish second overall of participants from Queensland, Western Australia, Northern Territory and her home state.

Coming from a swimming background, she has been named in the SANFLW team of the year in 2018, 2019 and 2021.

The Saints and Blues have until Friday evening to make their final selections.
